Application of PCR regenerated materials in the construction industry
PCR (Post Consumer Recycled) recycled materials refer to materials that are recycled and reused after consumption, and have many applications in the construction industry
1、 Application of wall materials
1. Block material
PCR recycled materials can be used to manufacture concrete blocks. For example, by mixing PCR recycled materials such as waste plastics and fiberglass with cement, sand, and gravel, the resulting blocks can meet building requirements in terms of strength and durability. These recycled blocks are widely used in non load bearing walls, such as partition walls inside buildings. They can not only effectively utilize waste resources, but also provide certain insulation performance for buildings.
For some construction sites with special requirements, such as those that require sound absorption and noise reduction, adding sound-absorbing materials to PCR recycled blocks can improve the acoustic performance of the walls. At the same time, due to the addition of PCR regenerated materials, the color and texture of the blocks can have more variations, providing more design choices for the appearance of the building.
2. Wall panel material
The use of PCR recycled materials in prefabricated wall panels is also a common application method. Some fiber-reinforced PCR recycled plastics can be used to manufacture exterior wall cladding, which has good impact resistance and weather resistance. Compared with traditional exterior wall materials, they are lighter in weight, easier to install, and can effectively shorten the construction period.
In terms of interior wall panels, wall panels containing PCR regenerated materials can improve indoor thermal comfort. For example, wallboards made of recycled polystyrene foam and other materials can play a good role in thermal insulation, reduce indoor heat transfer, and contribute to building energy conservation.
2、 Ground material application
1. Floor tiles and flooring materials
PCR regenerated materials can be used to manufacture floor tiles. For example, by mixing recycled ceramic fragments, glass, etc. with new ceramic raw materials and firing them at high temperatures, recycled floor tiles with unique appearances can be made. This type of floor tile may exhibit irregular beauty in color and pattern due to the addition of recycled materials, making it suitable for some architectural spaces with creative design styles, such as art galleries, creative studios, etc.
In terms of elastic flooring, such as PVC flooring, adding PCR regenerated PVC can reduce production costs without affecting its basic properties. Recycled PVC flooring is widely used in commercial buildings, such as shopping malls, supermarkets, and other places. It has the characteristics of wear resistance, slip resistance, and easy cleaning, and the use of recycled materials conforms to environmental protection concepts.
3、 Application of insulation materials
1. Insulation board
The recycled polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam and other PCR recycled materials can be used to manufacture insulation boards. These insulation boards are widely used in the external wall insulation and roof insulation systems of buildings. For example, in buildings in cold regions, using insulation boards containing PCR recycled materials on the exterior walls can effectively prevent indoor heat loss and reduce the building's heating energy consumption.
Compared with traditional insulation materials, PCR regenerated insulation materials can reduce dependence on raw resources in the production process and can be recycled after disposal, forming a more environmentally friendly cycle. Meanwhile, by improving production processes, the insulation performance of recycled insulation materials can reach or even exceed the level of traditional insulation materials.
4、 Application of roofing materials
1. Roof tiles
PCR regenerated plastic can be used to manufacture new types of roof tiles. These roof tiles have good waterproof and weather resistance, and are lightweight, making them easy to install. For example, some roof tiles made from a mixture of recycled plastic and fiber can mimic traditional clay or slate tiles in color and shape, providing a beautiful and durable covering material for building roofs.
In some building environments with high requirements for roof materials, such as seaside buildings, roof tiles containing PCR recycled materials have good corrosion resistance and can effectively resist the erosion of sea breeze and seawater, extending the service life of roof materials.
5、 Application of Building Decoration Materials
1. Decorative panels
PCR regenerated materials can be used to manufacture building decorative panels. For example, decorative panels made by mixing recycled wood fibers, plastics, etc. can be used for indoor wall and ceiling decoration. This type of board can be made into different colors, textures, and shapes as needed to meet the requirements of various architectural decoration styles.
In some temporary buildings or interior renovation projects, using decorative panels containing PCR recycled materials can reduce costs and quickly achieve the renewal of building decoration effects. Moreover, the performance of these recycled decorative panels in terms of fire and moisture resistance can also be improved by adding corresponding additives.
